This is taken from the work of Carol Dweck on Growth Mindset. Google Growth Mindset to discover more. Children and adults who have a Growth Mindset are more likely to be consistently motivated to apply effort, even in the face of failure and mistakes and this is closely linked to lifelong positive outcomes. A fixed mindset is one that believes that success or failure is 'fixed' and not influenced by effort. A fixed mindset is far more damaging to an individual than failing an exam or poor NAPLAN results! A Growth Mindset is far more useful to a person than an A+ Dweck's work is based on her extensive research.
